Playing once again with Google's reverse image search and the visually similar image results. My photographs are on the left, images by others on the right. Click any image for its source.

I think the most interesting result this time around was the steering wheel shot for "Deep Tall." Almost all of the visually similar images presented by Google were virtually the same image, but interiors of slightly different cars. Strange...

Google has a reverse image search, where you can drag a photo from your computer into the search box, and it will find that image on the web. This is great if you're wondering if anyone has stolen your images, or used them in a way you don't agree with on the internet. This would be uncredited instances of you art—impossible to find by simply searching for your own name. I found a few myself.

But the really fun part about searching this way is Google's collection of "visually similar images" that appears near the bottom of the page. You can find images of vastly different subject matter that look pretty similar. Here are a few of mine (on the left) and visually similar images by other people (on the right) that make for interesting complementary pairs.

This is it, today's the day. The day our lives get better. The day our world changes. The day we've been waiting for.

Some of us have been waiting since November 4th. Some of us have been waiting 4 or 8 years... some have been waiting all our lives.

Here comes a president we voted for, not just because he was not the other guy. He means many things to many people. We have high expectations. We hope he won't let us down, but it's not a false hope. There is nothing false about hope.

Abrowender's canvas of the first lady reminds us that first ladies can be powerful, confident, stylish, eloquent, serious, and warm all at the same time.

A stylish cap for stylish women, this slouchy cap can be worn a variety of ways to suit your look.

Every photograph of this hat by TheYarnChick is appealing (same goes for all of the hats in this shop, for that matter), and will send you clicking away through the seller's other items, most of which are adorable creations for children.

Oh, the contrast of vanilla in this glossy treasure! The deep, shiny interior is a well of delightful frozen dairy goodness.

There are so many details that make this bowl fantastic: the swirl in the bottom, the rich deep color on the inside, the pure white of the outside, the ribbed texture that just makes you want to hold it.

KarinLorenc's ceramic creations are delicious.

A long day at the beach... wouldn't it be nice to have a place to set your cold drink?

Each of these four coasters features an artsy, beach-themed photograph, transferred onto tumbled marble tile.

My coaster is a snarky collage.

Bueller Designs' Etsy shop is replete with fabulous photographs for your perusal.

Gotta catch it! I love that this golden snitch necklace is photographed in a hand, as if it has just been caught to win the game.

The snitch dangles from a hemp cord, featuring the house colors of
Gryffindor, and the twists and turns of bronze remind me of contrails from a broomstick.

Anyone who experiences the bark of a madrone tree up close becomes instantly enamored with it. The thin, papery, russet colored bark peels away in curls to reveal velvety smooth green beneath.

This lovely postcard features a madrone tree and is dyed with madrone bark. Its natural textures evoke the setting in which one would find a madrone.

NottaPixiePress's madrone postcard is hand dyed and printed with an original woodcut. My postcard is just a great photograph.

The Beatles were not only ahead of their time, they were ahead of ours. It has taken almost half a century to truly appreciate all of their intricacies, and we are still learning.

The iconic image, easily recognizable, but without the four that made it famous only serves as a reminder that this once-great team will never exist in its entirety again, nor will it be matched. And that is why this t-shirt image is destined to go down in history as one of the truly great apparel masterpieces of all time.
KlausIndustries captures the abstract, yet instantaneous recognition of my Beatles muslin screenprint, and is a much more functional piece of art.
